Scope of work

  • Multi-phase traffic management for the duration of the scheme
  • Lane closures implemented initially, progressing to full road closures where required
  • Temporary traffic signals used to manage phased works and maintain traffic flow
  • Controlled access maintained for residents and emergency services
  • Advance warning signage and public notice coordination
  • Daily inspections and adjustments in line with site progress

Our approach

Given the live highway environment and phased nature of the Calderdale Electric Supply Scheme, a proactive and adaptable approach was essential.

We began with detailed site assessments and traffic management planning to support the initial phase of works, implementing lane closures to maintain safe and steady traffic flow. As the scheme progressed, layouts were regularly reviewed and adjusted to reflect changing site conditions and work phases.

Throughout the project we have:

  • Used initial lane closures to enable works to commence while maintaining traffic movement
  • Escalated to full road closures where required to ensure safe working areas for excavation and installation activities
  • Introduced multi-phase temporary traffic signal systems to effectively manage traffic at key stages of the works
  • Maintained controlled access for residents and emergency services across all phases
  • Undertaken routine inspections and made timely adjustments to ensure ongoing safety, compliance, and efficiency

Ongoing coordination with the client and stakeholders ensured all changes were carefully planned and implemented with minimal disruption to the local community.

Outcome

The Calderdale Electric Supply Scheme Phase 1 was successfully delivered, with traffic management supporting the works safely and efficiently throughout the duration of the project.

Careful planning and adaptive site management ensured minimal disruption to the local network while maintaining safe access for both operatives and the public. All phases were completed in line with programme requirements and stakeholder expectations.

The scheme has now progressed into Phase 2, with lessons learned from the initial stage helping to further refine and improve ongoing traffic management arrangements.
